This site began as Verizon-FiOS-Sucks.com after a very poor initial experience with my Verizon FiOS Triple Play order. To read about this experience and how it ultimately resulted in a win for Verizon please start with my Verizon FiOS Order post and read the story all the way through.
After resolving my conflict with Verizon I realized that there are many consumers that are having challenges with Verizon FiOS. This includes Customer Service issues, Technical Challenges, Billing and others. As a result I decided to turn the bulk of the site into a forum for people that need help with Verizon FiOS. Please check out the Verizon FiOS Help Forum.

Is there ANYTHING I can do to keep Verizon from putting a box in my front yard? I am not a current customer, and I was never told they would be doing it. I suddenly have a dozen bright orange markers in my yard.

Don’t know. I think they have the right to dig up your yard to install as a public utility. There are requirements for them to leave it in similar condition and I would check with local government regarding the process. I know that in our area the local government put in place some additional restrictions on the contractors because of citizen complaints.

The HDMI port on my Verizon HD-DVR set top box stopped working on New Year’s Day. A technician came out and said that the HDMI “just goes out” and said his instructions were to connect using component video, even if he replaced the box with a new one. He insisted the two video standards were the same, and that was the company’s new policy. He said I should have gotten the memo. The truth is that HDMI is a digital bitstream and component is analog, a set of continuosly varying voltages representing the green (Y), blue (Pb) and red (Pr) components of the signal. This seems to me to be fraudulent because Verizon advertises and sells the FiOS TV as “100% digital TV” and it isn’t, particularly if the service technicians are instructed not to hook up HDMI but defraud the customer by telling us that component is the same. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a good class action attorney out there?

Thanks for doing this website. I just cancelled my order to avoid a possible nightmare.

I’ve had FIOS for about a year and a half, and used to like it. Then my Tivo finally died and I decided to go with the Verizon DVR. This DVR is HORRIBLE. I know I was spoiled on Tivo, but this one really sucks. User interface designed by a monkey, which wouldn’t be so bad if the damn thing didn’t also crash about once a day. The ActionTec router is also a joke, internet performance is immensely better if you throw that router out and put your own $10 one in its place.

Verizon FiOS installers came unannounced to my home on 2 occasions and dug up my yard (disconnecting my existing Comcast service temporarily).
They have dug up my yard 4x times already. Kills my grass. I have that box in my backyard so everytime someone get it, guess who’s yard gets dug up. No my neighbor is getting it. They plan to dig diagonally across my yard.. I called an complained but their response is they have the right to do whatever they want.

I finally recieved the free tv and hooked it up. There was a 1 minute hesitation then the station came on. After programing the remote the whole thing died. So I called for tech. assistance and was on hold for 30 min. and they hung up on me. still no tv in the one room only.I will be deducting my time waiting on the phone from my bill.
